Resumo
Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo abordar a passagem do educador Paulo Freire pela Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba (UNIMEP), no ano de 1983, a partir da análise do I Seminário Internacional de Educação Popular e da formação dos Ciclos de Estudos sobre Educação Popular, bem como verificar os principais impactos desta presença para a compreensão do papel do trabalho de Extensão na referida instituição. Nesta pesquisa, foram abordados acontecimentos que tiveram palco na década de 1980 e que, historicamente, contribuíram para a formação do ideal proposto de uma nova concepção educacional e social de Universidade. Ao debater o tema da Educação Popular, Freire auxiliou a sistematização das ações internas que vinham ocorrendo desde os últimos dois anos da década de 1970, corrigindo eventuais equívocos e fortalecendo novos projetos. Trata-se de uma pesquisa histórica de análise documental, complementada por entrevistas realizadas com participantes do SIEP e do CEEP.
Abstract
This research aims to address the passage of educator Paulo Freire, Methodist University of Piracicaba, in the year 1983, from the analysis of the First International Seminar of Popular Education and training Cycles of Studies on Popular Education, as well as see which we the main impacts of this presence for the understanding of the role extension of the Unimep. The present survey covered some events hat took the stage in the 1980 and that, historically, contributed to the formation of the ideal proposed a new conception of university education and social. Paulo Freire in discussing the subject of popular education has helped the university to systematize the actions that were happening within the university, from the last two years of the 1970, correcting misunderstandings and strengthening new projects. This is a historical document analysis, complemented by interviews with participants SIEP and CEEP.
