Resumo
Este trabalho tem por objetivo identificar e analisar os significados da assistência aos jogos de futebol no bar. O futebol faz parte da identidade brasileira e pode ser estudado sob diversos ângulos como jogo, rito, esporte. É a paixão dos brasileiros e é tematizado o tempo todo. Essa paixão não pode ser explicada somente com base em uma visão biológica ou funcionalista, mas sobretudo a partir de uma combinação entre os códigos do futebol e o contexto cultural brasileiro. Um dos problemas que identificamos relacionados ao futebol é que parte significativa dos trabalhos acadêmicos enfoca somente a prática dessa modalidade esportiva, desconsiderando muitas vezes os outros dois gêneros do lazer que são o conhecimento e a assistência. Outro problema é com relação a assistência ao futebol, sendo frequentemente compreendida como passiva no sentido de um simples consumo do jogo sem criatividade ou criticidade por parte do espectador. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica a partir de um levantamento às obras de autores da Antropologia, Sociologia e da Educação Física que se centram em um referencial sociocultural. Também realizamos pesquisa de campo, com observação participante a alguns jogos de futebol vistos em um bar escolhido previamente na cidade de Piracicaba. Além das observações, contatamos alguns frequentadores do bar por meio de questionários e entrevistas semi-estruturadas para identificarmos quais os significados que esses sujeitos atribuem à assistência aos jogos de futebol no bar. Foram realizadas quatro visitas ao bar investigado em diferentes campeonatos de futebol e foram entrevistadas quatorze pessoas, bem como o proprietário do estabelecimento. Após o levantamento bibliográfico e a realização das observações e entrevistas, concluimos que os significados atribuídos à assistência aos jogos de futebol no bar pelos entrevistados envolvem, principalmente, o interesse social do lazer. Entretanto, nas observações percebemos que o interesse físico-esportivo estava também sempre presente. Com relação a questão da atividade e passividade notamos que os frequentadores do bar investigado demostraram uma atitude ativa com relação ao conteúdo do jogo consumido, com expressões e ações que modificavam aquele conteúdo, mostrando-se assim ativos, críticos e criativos. Com as observações e entrevistas foi possível compreender que o futebol é um “jogo absorvente” por apaixonar as pessoas, absorvê-las de forma a agirem durante o jogo de forma diferente do seu cotidiano, realizando atos como gritar, xingar e chorar em público.
Abstract
This paper has the objective of identifying and analyzing the meanings of watching soccer games in the bar. Soccer is a big part of Brazilian identity and it can be studied from different angles, such as a game, a rite, a sport. It is the Brazilian´s biggest passion and it is discussed frequently. This passion cannot be explained only based in a biological or functionalist view, but also using a combination between soccer codes and the Brazilian cultural context. One of the problems identified concerning soccer is that a significant part of academic researches focus only on soccer practice and usually disregard other types of leisure like knowledge and watching. Other problem is that watching soccer is frequently understood as a passive activity being just a type of consumption of the game without any criticism and creativity by the audience. Bibliographical research was the methodology used for this paper using works from authors in the fields of anthropology, sociology and physical education who use a social cultural approach. Field research was realized observing some soccer games in a bar which was previously chosen in the city of Piracicaba in the state of São Paulo. Besides the observations, bar goers were contacted through questionnaires and semi controlled interviews in order to identify which meanings they gave to watching soccer games in bars. Four visits to the bar were realized in different championships and fourteen people were interviewed as well as the owner of the bar. After the bibliographical research, the observations and the interviews, we concluded that the meanings attributed to watching soccer games in bars by the own interviewees involve, mainly, their social interest in leisure. However, during the observations, we could notice there was some interest in the physical and sport aspect too. Concerning the active and passive issue, we noticed that bar goers showed an active attitude concerning the content of the game, using expressions and actions that modify that content, so they showed they were active, critic and creative. After the observations and interviews were done, it was possible to understand soccer as a “deep game” because it makes people fall in love, draws people´s attention to act differently than their daily lives, doing things like cursing, shouting and crying in public.
