Resumo
Historicamente, as Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) desempenham papel fundamental na sociedade e, por intermédio do ensino e da pesquisa, atuam na formação de futuros líderes, empresários e gestores, representando condição necessária para que a sociedade possa incorporar valores do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (DS). O objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar um instrumento de avaliação das operações de sustentabilidade em campus, no qual os indicadores respondam às necessidades das Instituições Federais de Ensino Superior (IFES), no sentido de mensurar, avaliar, monitorar, documentar e registrar os esforços da implantação da sustentabilidade nessas instituições. O instrumento deverá respeitar as características das IFES, abrangendo as dimensões ambiental, social e econômica. A pesquisa realizada é de cunho quanti-qualitativo, de natureza descritiva e exploratória, e com levantamento de dados em campo, de modo que convergência do estudo é voltada para operações de campus. O instrumento foi aplicado em três IFES no Estado do Paraná, cujos resultados permitiram a validade das seis dimensões e dos trinta indicadores apresentados pelo modelo, entendido pelos entrevistados como relevantes para as instituições pesquisadas. Na análise dos dados identificou-se que as ações sustentáveis dependem de três fatores: gestão compromissada, alunos e professores envolvidos nas ações relacionadas à sustentabilidade e recursos adequados com suficiência para implementar tais práticas.
Abstract
Historically, Higher Education Institutions play a fundamental role in society and, through teaching and research, act in the training of future leaders, entrepreneurs and managers, representing a necessary condition for society to incorporate values of Sustainable Development (SD). The objective of this study is evaluation processes of sustainability operations on campus and, at the same time, propose a suitable instrument for this purpose, in which the indicators respond to the real needs of the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (FIHE), whose purpose is to measure, evaluate, monitor, document and record the efforts of the implementation of sustainability in these institutions, which is an allied procedure in the SD implementation process. The instrument should respect the characteristics of the IFES, covering the environmental, social and economic dimensions. The research carried out is of a quantitative-qualitative character, of descriptive and exploratory nature, seeking to combine data of both natures with theoretical-documentary basis and data collection in the field, and the convergence of the study is focused on campus operations. The instrument was applied in three IFES in the State of Paraná, whose results allowed the validity of the six dimensions and the thirty indicators presented by the model, understood by the interviewees as relevant for the researched institutions. In the data analysis, it was identified that sustainable actions depend on three factors: committed management, students and teachers involved in actions related to sustainability and adequate resources with sufficient to implement such practices.
