Resumo
Escrever sobre política em Hannah Arendt é algo relativamente fácil. No entanto, quando alguém decide escrever sobre educação baseado em seus escritos, esta pessoa deve estar muito consciente das dificuldades que ela vai ter de encarar posteriormente; e este é o propósito desta tese intitulada: CRISE NA POLÍTICA CRISE NA EDUCAÇÃO: UM DIÁLOGO COM O PENSAMENTO DE HANNAH ARENDT". Olhando para o cenário político dos EUA dos anos 60, Hannah Arendt sentiu-se muito preocupada quando, do seu ponto de vista, a última democracia do Ocidente estava falindo. Assassinatos, escândalos e guerras pareciam colocar uma ameaça e lançar uma sombra sobre o último ninho da República. Baseado neste cenário, Hannah Arendt observa que a educação americana também está fracassando: se é verdade que a educação deve preparar cada geração para assumir sua responsabilidade no espaço público, a educação americana baseada no "aprender fazendo", do predominantemente assim chamado pragmatismo de John Dewy, não tinha nada a contribuir para amenizar os problemas que estavam acontecendo no sistema americano. Poder-se-ia dizer que uma tal crise seria um caso singular de uma crise mundial da política? Poder-se-ia dizer que o pragmatismo tem, de alguma forma, alguma relação com a crise da república dos EUA? Poder-se-ia dizer, que uma tal crise está no mundo todo? Estas são as questões que o presente trabalho tenta responder. Espera-se que esta tese devolva, de alguma forma, a grandeza e a beleza do pensamento de Hannah Arendt ao centro da atenção das discussões acadêmicas sobre educação.
Abstract
Writing about politics in Hannah Arendt is something relatively easy. Nevertheless, as someone makes up his mind to write about education based in her writings, one must quite aware of the difficulties that he or she will have to face later on; and that is exactly the purpose of the present thesis entitled " CRISIS IN POLITICS CRISIS IN EDUCATION: A DIALOGUE WITH THE THOUGHT OF HANNAH ARENDT". Looking into the political scenery of the USA of the 60's, Hannah Arendt felt most concerned as, in her point of view, the last model of democracy of the West was going bankruptcy. Assassinations, scandals and wars seemed to pose threaten and cast a shadow on the last nestle of Republic. Based in this scenery, Hannah Arendt observes that the American education is also failing: if educations is meant to prepare each and every generation to undertake its responsibility on the political space, the American education based on the "Learn by Doing" of the predominating so called Pragmatism of John Dewy had nothing to contribute to soften the troubles that were going on the American establishment. Can one ever say that such a crisis is a singular case of a worldwide crises on politics? Can one say that pragmatism holds somehow some connection to with the crisis in the Republic of the USA? Can one say, furthermore, that such a crisis is in the whole world? These are the questions that the present work tries to answer. It's truly hoped that this bit of academic work can truly bring back the greatness and beauty of Hannah Arendt's thought to the limelight of the contemporary discussions on education.
