Resumo
A pesquisa apresentou como objetivo conhecer, para além do perfil audiológico, como os idosos reagem e se organizam em relação a sua condição auditiva e de comunicação atual. Para tal, foram realizadas cinco entrevistas semi-estruturadas com idosos que realizaram avaliação audiológica na clínica da UNIMEP e se dispuseram a colaborar no período da coleta. Os exames audiométricos apontaram a perda auditiva neurossensorial como a mais presente na maioria dos casos, perda esta que torna bastante difícil o acesso àquilo que é dito pelo outro. Durante a entrevista, alguns sujeitos referiram a perda auditiva que apresentam como um processo natural do envelhecimento, e que as dificuldades provenientes da presbiacusia não impedem a interação social, ou seja, certos idosos sabem lidar com suas novas condições de saúde e não se sentem frustrados perante uma situação comunicativa que inicialmente pode parecer embaraçosa. A formação de grupos voltados para as questões dos idosos, ações educativas e terapêuticas entre outras poderiam ser propostas em Piracicaba, já que o número de idosos, segundo o censo demográfico na região é bastante elevado, indicando a presença de uma população que se beneficiaria com a organização de eventos e a realização de projetos com este fim. Esta pesquisa, então, revelou aspectos do perfil auditivo dos idosos desta região e espera-se que estes achados contribuam para gerar ações educativas e novos estudos interessados em propiciar uma melhor qualidade de vida a esta população.
Abstract
The research had as objective to know not only the audiological profile of the aged ones but how they react and how they organise themselves in relation of their auditory condition and current communication skills. For that, five half-structuralized interviews had been carried out at the UNIMEP´s clinic where the volunteers had been submitted to an audiological evaluation and made themselves available for the whole research process. The audiometrics examinations pointed the neurossensorial auditory loss as the most present in the majority of the cases, loss that becomes sufficiently difficult for them to access what it is being said by other people. During the interview, some subjects related their present auditory loss as a natural process of the ageing, and the difficulties proceeding from the presbyacusis do not hinder their social interaction, that is, some of them know how to deal with their new health conditions and they do not feel frustrate before this situation that could seems embarrassing for most of us. The creation of groups directed to the aged ones, the educative, therapeutical and other actions could be proposal at Piracicaba City, where the number of aged, according to demographic census, have raised substantially, indicating the presence of a population that would benefit with organization of events and projects with this purpose. This research, disclosed aspects of the auditory profile of the aged ones from this region and expects that these findings contribute to generate educative actions and new studies aiming at propitiating a better quality of life to this population.
