Resumo
Esta pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa e documental, tem como objetivo investigar em que termos representantes da sociedade de Araxá/Minas Gerais vêm se posicionando frente às atividades das empresas mineradoras na cidade. A partir de matérias jornalísticas e registros de reuniões veiculadas no jornal "Correio de Araxá" e nas Atas da Câmara Municipal, desde a década de 1960 do século XX, período no qual se iniciou a extração de nióbio e de fosfato, especificamente o estudo pretende analisar as notícias relacionadas com as atividades de mineração à luz dos movimentos ambientais internacionais/nacionais e identificar quais as questões de ação educativa para a sustentabilidade que emergem da história contemporânea de Araxá. Desse cenário histórico desponta para a educação ambiental o desafio de construir uma cidadania participativa e um novo paradigma de produção sustentável; de promover uma alfabetização do risco ambiental; de ampliar o debate sobre justiça ambiental e sobre os interesses públicos versus interesses privados; de fazer uma análise crítica ao marketing verde das empresas; de discutir o papel dos políticos e do poder público na gestão ambiental; de construir uma nova racionalidade; de reinventar o futuro.
Abstract
This search of a qualitative nature and documentary, aims to investigate under what conditions, representatives of the society of Araxá/Minas Gerais have been positioning ahead to the activities of mining companies in the city. From materials reporters and records of meetings appeared in the newspaper " Correio de Araxá" and the Minutes of the members of the Legislative City Council since the decade of 60 of the twentieth century, a period in which he began the extraction of niobium and phosphate. Specifically the study sought to analyze the news related to the activities of mining in the light of the environmental movement international / national and identify issues of educational activity for sustainability that emerge from the contemporary history of Araxá. This historical setting for environmental education appear the challenge of building a participatory citizenship in a new paradigm of sustainable production, to promote a literacy environmental risk; to expand the debate on environmental justice and the public interest versus private interests; to make a critical analysis of the green marketing companies; to discuss the role of politicians and the public power in environmental management, to build a new rationality, to reinvent the future.
