Resumo
A presente pesquisa aborda questões sobre: corpo, educação, juventude contemporânea e Body Modification. Dadas as proporções que a imagem corporal assumiu nas últimas décadas, principalmente se tratando da juventude enquanto consumidora voraz das tendências e investimentos de toda espécie no campo da corporeidade, como no caso da Body Modification, é que se faz necessário refletir acerca desse fenômeno presente e amplamente difundido entre a juventude contemporânea. Hoje mais que em outros momentos da vida social, tem-se a aparência como um fator primordial nas noções de identidade. O que nos desperta a atenção são as formas pelas quais, principalmente, adolescentes e jovens tratam seus corpos, e o fato de que, de uma forma ou de outra, buscam por meio dele, se auto-afirmarem enquanto sujeitos, não pela via verbalizada, mas pelas multifacetadas possibilidades de investimentos no corpo, que, por sua vez, impõe-se nos espaços por onde circula, seja na escola, em casa, no trabalho ou em espaços de lazer. Nosso estudo teve como objetivo geral: refletir acerca da Body Modification enquanto uma manifestação extrema da condição do jovem na atualidade e seus desdobramentos no campo da formação dos mesmos, a partir de categorias fundamentadas na Teoria Crítica da Sociedade referendadas pela primeira geração da escola de Frankfurt, principalmente com base nos estudos de Theodor W. Adorno, referentes à educação e a cultura. Privilegiamos a juventude enquanto foco de pesquisa por entendermos que a juventude é uma fase em que a formação do indivíduo está tensionada por uma certa necessidade social de adaptação à ordem cultural (mercadológica) existente; pelo conflito que ela estabelece com as autoridades institucionais (família, igreja, escola) e pela busca de um pertencimento e de uma maior autonomia sobre as questões afetas ao corpo. A Body Modification é uma das formas de educação do corpo, dentre muitas outras presentes na esteira da sociedade administrada; seu caráter a princípio rebelde, revela uma insatisfação não menos administrada do que a sociedade que a produz e nos autoriza a levar a cabo seus projetos de instrumentalização da vida. Dessa forma, entendemos que a educação ao proporcionar reflexões sobre tal realidade, pode contribuir com a desbarbarização vigente das relações sociais e culturais em curso, a partir da compreensão desses fenômenos levando em conta os contextos e dinâmicas em que estão inseridos, na tentativa de minimizar seus efeitos obliteradores nos sujeitos em formação.
Abstract
The present research discusses subjects about: body, education, contemporaneous youth and Body Modification. Seen the proportions that the corporal image assumed in the last decades, mainly treating about the youth as a voracious consumer of the tendencies and investments of every species in the field of the body issue, as the case of the Body Modification, it makes necessary reflecting about this present and profusely diffused phenomenon between the contemporaneous youth. Nowadays, more than in other moments of the social life, the appearance is taken as a primordial factor into the notions of identity. What calls our attention are the manners that especially adolescents and young people treat their bodies and the fact that, in a way or another, they try through it auto-affirm themselves as subjects, not for the verbal route, but by the multifaceted possibilities of investments in the body, that, in its turn, imposes itself into the spaces where it circulates, being at school, at home, at work or in spaces of leisure. Our study had as a general goal: reflecting about Body Modification as an extreme manifestation of the condition of the young people nowadays and its unfoldings into the field of the formation of the same, from the categories founded on the Critical Theory of the Society on, based on the first generation of the Frankfurt School, mainly based on Theodor W. Adorno´s studies, concerning to the education and the culture. We privilege the youth as a focus of research for understanding that the youth is a phase which the formation of the individual is stimulated by a certain social necessity of adaptation to the cultural order (marketing) existing; by the conflict that it establishes with the authorities (family, church, school) and by the research for an incumbency and a bigger autonomy about the subjects concerning to the body. The Body Modification is one of the manners of the body education, among many others present on the roll of the directed society; its character, rebel in the beginning, exposes dissatisfaction no less directed than the society produces, and allows us to continue its projects of instrumentation of the life. In this way, we understand that the education, on providing reflections about such reality, can contribute against the barbarity current into the social and cultural relations in progress, from the comprehension of these phenomena on, considering the contexts and dynamics where they are inserted, in the attempt of minimizing its effects that obliterates in the subjects in formation.
