Resumo
O objetivo desse trabalho é analisar o conteúdo dos sermões pregados pelo jesuíta Antônio Vieira (1608-1697) aos escravos africanos que habitavam os engenhos do recôncavo baiano. Para tanto, após o estudo da cultura portuguesa quinhentista e seiscentista e seu modelo de organização social, a pesquisa trata de investigar a relação pedagógica estabelecida entre os padres da Companhia e os negros de África através do discurso vieiriano. Procura-se, pois, demonstrar como o sermão, enquanto ferramenta pedagógica serviu como instrumento de aculturação, no sentido de aproximar o "outro" (escravo africano) de "si" (português).
Abstract
The aim of this work is to analyse the content of given lectures by the jesuit Antônio Vieira (1608-1697) to the african slaves who inhabited the mills of the Recôncavo Baiano. Therefore, after the study of the 15th and 16th century Portuguese cultures and their model of social organization, the research concerns to investigate the pedagogical relation established between the priests of the Society and the negro of Africa through the vieirian sermon. It searches, so, to demonstrate how the lecture, while pedagogical tool, served as instrument of acculturation, to the effect of bringing near the "other" (african slave) to "himself" (Portuguese).
