Resumo
Este estudo centraliza-se na concepção da confessionalidade aplicada na obra educacional de ensino superior Adventista no Brasil. Sendo esta representada aqui, pelo Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo (UNASP) – localizado no município de Engenheiro Coelho/SP. Identificando seus principais contornos ao passar pela história do protestantismo brasileiro, assim como, pelas vicissitudes econômicas, políticas e culturais, e nas contribuições para educação proveniente de novas ideologias transplantadas progressivamente pelos protestantes para a educação brasileira. Nesse mesmo sentido, analisa-se o progresso da educação adventista de uma maneira monolítica em sua filosofia educacional, e na sua consolidação frente à crescente cristalização do pensamento moderno. Aborda-se a presença da confessionalidade educacional fundamentada pelos conselhos de Ellen White a partir de 1872, que hoje, constitui-se em um modelo mundial circunscrito à filosofia adventista, frente a um processo dinâmico da sociedade moderna, cuja representatividade estende-se por 145 países num total de 7.442 unidades de ensino com mais de 1.400.000 alunos. Do total de instituições adventistas de ensino, 107 são de Ensino Superior que atendem mais de 112 mil alunos. Nesta perspectiva trabalha-se a questão dos desafios de manter-se a confessionalidade apoiada em uma filosofia educacional, sem o decréscimo dos seus traços fundamentais, considerando sua particularidade de instituição originária de outro contexto sócio-cultural, que mantém um diálogo com outros atores representantes da modernidade.
Abstract
This research focuses on the conception of confessional institution applied into the educational work of the Adventist higher education in Brazil which is represented here in this study by the Unasp (Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo) Campus of Engenheiro Coelho City, identifying its main outlines when going through the history of the Brazilian Protestantism, as well as through the economic, politic and cultural views, and the contribution to the education derived from the new progressive ideology transplanted by the protestants for the Brazilian Education’s behalf. In that same sense, the education Adventist's in a monolithic way progress is analyzed in her education philosophy, and in her consolidation front to growing crystallization of the modern thought. The presence of the educational confessionality, approached by the advices of Ellen White since 1872, represents today a world wide model inserted into the Adventist philosophy, front to a dynamic process of the modern society, whose representation extends for 145 countries in an amount of 7,442 units with more than 1,400,000 students. Out of the total amount of Adventist Institutes, 107 are Higher Education units that assist more than 112,000 students. In this perspective, it has been worked the issue of the challenge to maintain the confessionality supported by a educational philosophy, without the decreasing of its fundamental characteristics, considering its peculiarity of institute derived from the other social-cultural context, that maintains a dialog with others authors who represent the modernity.
