Resumo
Este estudo aborda a suposta relação entre analfabetismo e pobreza em Moçambique. Nossa proposta é realizar uma análise histórica e sociológica buscando compreender o país, sua diversidade e a multiplicidade de fatores que o constituem. Ao mesmo tempo, reconhecemos as configurações que permitiram integrar a Alfabetização e Educação de Adultos em Moçambique ao Plano de Ação para a Redução da Pobreza Absoluta - PARPA. Para a análise da suposta relação entre analfabetismo e pobreza em Moçambique, realizamos uma retrospectiva da história do país que, em Outubro de 2002, ao comemorar os 10 anos da assinatura do acordo de paz, lançou uma campanha nacional de alfabetização intitulada "Alfabetizando reduzimos a pobreza absoluta". Nesse sentido, abordamos a educação de adultos, a alfabetização, a concepção de adulto em Moçambique e os estudos realizados sobre este tema por pesquisadores moçambicanos. Em seguida, retomamos os estudos referentes à relação analfabetismo e pobreza problematizando o conceito de pobreza e apresentando análises sobre a pobreza em Moçambique e sobre a situação de dependência do país das organizações doadoras internacionais. Para finalizar, apresentamos as possibilidades que encontramos na relação analfabetismo e pobreza, a partir de estudos subsidiados por autores que demonstram a ligação possível entre educação e desenvolvimento humano.
Abstract
This study approaches the supposed relation between illiteracy and poverty in Mozambique. Thus, our objective is to carry out a historical and sociological analysis, in which we will try to comprehend the country, its diversity and the multiplicity of factors which make it what it is. At the same time, we will identify the configurations which enabled the integration of the Adult Literacy and Education Program to the Action Plan for the Reduction of Absolute Poverty (PARPA). For the analysis of the supposed relation between illiteracy and poverty in Mozambique, we reviewed the history of the country, which, in October, 2002, when it celebrated the 10th anniversary of the settling of the peace treaty, launched a national literacy campaign called “Raising literacy we reduce absolute poverty”. Therefore, we will approach adult education, literacy, the concept of adulthood in Mozambique and the studies developed on this theme by Mozambican researchers. Then, we will review the studies about the relationship between illiteracy and poverty, discussing the concept of poverty and presenting analyses about poverty in Mozambique and the dependence of the country of international humanitarian organizations. Finally, we will present the possibilities we found in the relationship between illiteracy and poverty from studies by authors who present the possible relation between education and human development.
