Resumo
Este trabalho visou investigar a inclusão social do deficiente visual em Sorocaba, São Paulo, tendo como princípios norteadores que, na inclusão social, o acesso ao mundo do trabalho é importante e a educação é fundamental nessa conquista. Pautados nesses princípios, foi feito um levantamento de dados estatísticos referentes às matrículas dos alunos incluídos nas classes regulares e dos alunos matriculados na educação especial nas redes pública e privada de ensino. Entrevistamos representantes do poder público e das instituições que atendem as pessoas com deficiência, buscando dados e documentos que sinalizassem as ações que têm sido desenvolvidas no município com esse objetivo. Também foram entrevistados seis deficientes visuais com a intenção de investigar, no entendimento de cada um, o que essas ações têm representado em suas vidas e dando-lhes espaço para apontarem aquilo que consideram mais importante na eliminação, ou pelo menos, na redução das barreiras que dificultam a inclusão social das pessoas com deficiência visual em Sorocaba, São Paulo. A maioria estacou a importância da educação e considera que a inclusão escolar é um avanço, mas que além de garantir a matrícula ao deficiente na classe regular, há necessidade de melhor preparar os professores para recebê-los e providenciar materiais e recursos pedagógicos que possam facilitar o processo da aprendizagem. Também foi apontada a necessidade de uma instituição mais atuante, que promova a profissionalização das pessoas com deficiência visual e que ela possa ser o elo com as empresas, conscientizando e esclarecendo seus dirigentes sobre as reais possibilidades de trabalho dos deficientes visuais, atualmente contratados, na maior parte das vezes, apenas para cumprir uma exigência legal. Abstract
This work aimed at investigating the social inclusion of visual deficient in Sorocaba – São Paulo – Brasil, considering mainly that, for social inclusion, the access to labor is important and education is fundamental for this achievement. Considering these principles a statistical survey was conducted regarding the enrolment of students in regular classes of regular school and regarding the enrolment of students in special classes from public and private schools. Public representatives have been interviewed as well as those from institutions that support the visual deficient, searching for data and documents that signalize the actions that have been taken in this city with this objective. Six visual deficient have also been interviewed aiming at investigating, from their point of view, what these actions have represented in their lives and giving them the opportunity to point out what they consider the most important in eliminating, or at least reducing the barriers that create difficulties in the social inclusion of the visual deficient in Sorocaba. The majority indicated the importance of education and considers that inclusion in school is an important step, but beyond just guaranteeing the right to enroll in regular classes there is the need to prepare the teachers to receive them and to provide pedagogic resources which help the learning process. The need for more involving institutions was also pointed out. These institutions should promote the development of visual deficient professionals and also be the link with the companies, making them conscious and clarifying their leaders about the real possibilities of the work of the visual deficient, which are hired, in most cases, just to comply with legal requirements.
