Resumo
Visa este trabalho delimitar a importância da instituição policial ao longo da história, desde sua concepção original, suas variações e mudanças até os dias atuais, enfatizando-se as atividades de polícia judiciária que são exercidas pela polícia civil e polícia federal, dirigidas por delegados de polícia de carreira, de acordo com a Constituição vigente. A importância do inquérito policial na persecução penal e sua correlação com os direitos do homem, evoluindo-se em seu conceito para direitos humanos e hodiernamente para direitos fundamentais do cidadão que são e devem ser tutelados por este órgão estatal, na busca de um modelo comunitário que atenda tais anseios, principalmente, quanto ao atendimento prestado ao público em geral.
Abstract
This work aims to set out the importance of the police institution throughout history, from its original conception, its variations and changes to the present day, emphasizing activities of the judiciary police that are exercised by the civil police and federal police, direct by police officers career, according to the current Constitution. The importance of the police investigation in the criminal prosecution and its correlation with human rights, evolving in concept for human rights and in our times to the citizen’s fundamental rights which are and must be protected by this state agency in search of a community model that meets these expectations, especially, regarding the care being provided to the general public.
